In a bid to attract more women into the fashion industry, UK retailer Woolworths has unveiled a range of women’s socks made from wool.
The range includes a wool jumper, a wool wool jumper for men and a wool cap with an eye-catching design that will appeal to both men and women.
The Woolworth brand, which has been criticised for its perceived sexist approach to the industry, said the range would allow them to “celebrate the rich history of wool and the women who made it”.
The Woolrichs Woolman Woolen Woolworth Woolworth’s Woolworth-owned Woolworth Group also recently announced a new range of sweaters for men that will be available to women for £30.
The company said it wanted to create a “fiery, versatile and feminine” range of wool sweaters that “would appeal to anyone”.
The range of womens wool sweats, called the Woolworth Classic Wool, is currently available for purchase online.
The brand, based in Norwich, said it was hoping to produce 500,000 sweaters by the end of the year.
It has also launched a new website called Woolrich.com that allows users to buy and order the wool sweates and cap.
Woolworths Woolworth said the new range was a “natural extension of Woolworth Women’s and Woolworth Men’s Woolen Sweaters, which are now available for women and men”.
“Woolsworth Wool, in partnership with its global partner, Paloma, are delighted to introduce these women’s wool sweated products into the marketplace and are committed to supporting the growth of the women’s apparel industry in the UK,” said Woolworth director of womenwear and womenswear marketing, Sarah Gaffney.
“We know that womens fashion is evolving and we are delighted that our women’s sweaters are inspired by the very best wool we have produced,” she added.
The women’s Woolman Classic Wool range is available in sizes M to L with a range which also includes a size M women’s sweater.
The wool sweating pad and the Woolrich Woolman cap are currently available on Amazon.
